Lakeside walkway between resorts near EPCOT at Walt Disney World

Hotels Near EPCOT

EPCOT is the only Disney park with a second gate that hotels open onto. That single fact makes the EPCOT resort area the best transport position on Disney property.

30-Second Verdict

For the shortest arrival, take a resort on the International Gateway path: Disney's Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk Inn or the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. For the same corner at a fraction of the price, take a Skyliner resort: Disney's Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century or Art of Animation.

The International Gateway changes the maths

EPCOT's main entrance faces the car park at the front of the park. The International Gateway sits at the back, between the United Kingdom and France pavilions, and it opens onto a waterside path that connects a small group of resorts. Guests at those resorts walk in, and walk home when the fireworks end rather than queuing for a bus.

The Disney Skyliner reaches the same gate from four resorts that cost far less. It is a gondola line rather than a walk, so there is a queue at peak times, and it stops in bad weather. Between those two options sits every other Disney resort, on a bus to the main entrance.

The picks

Disney's Beach Club Resort in EPCOT area
Best overall for EPCOT

Disney's Beach Club Resort

EPCOT area★★★★

  • Closest to Park
  • Best Rest Day
  • On-Site
  • Pool
  • Lazy river
  • Water slides
  • Walkable to a park
  • Works without a car

A short walk to the International Gateway and access to Stormalong Bay, the sand-bottom pool complex with a lazy river section and a slide. It is the strongest combination of park access and rest-day facility on Disney property.

Best for: Families who want the walk and the best pool on property

Watch out: Stormalong Bay is restricted to Beach Club and Yacht Club guests and gets busy. Rates are Deluxe.

Disney's BoardWalk Inn in EPCOT area
Best for evenings

Disney's BoardWalk Inn

EPCOT area★★★★

  • On-Site
  • Pool
  • Water slides
  • Walkable to a park
  • Works without a car

The BoardWalk itself is the feature. Restaurants and bars sit outside the lobby, EPCOT is a walk and Hollywood Studios is a boat ride, so a whole evening can happen without transport.

Best for: Adults and couples who want somewhere to go after the park

Watch out: The pool is themed rather than large. Families wanting water time are better off next door.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort in EPCOT area
Best for conventions and quieter stays

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

EPCOT area★★★★

  • On-Site
  • Pool
  • Lazy river
  • Water slides
  • Walkable to a park
  • Business facilities
  • Works without a car

The same walk and the same Stormalong Bay as Beach Club, with a more formal feel and a convention centre attached. For a work trip with a park day, it is the better half of the pair.

Best for: Business travelers who also want the EPCOT walk

Watch out: Deluxe rates, and the convention business means the resort's atmosphere changes week to week.

Best Marriott option on the path

EPCOT area★★★★8.8/101,077 reviews

  • Best Value
  • On-Site
  • Pool
  • Water slides
  • Spa
  • Walkable to a park
  • Works without a car

The Swan sits on the same waterside path with the same walk to the International Gateway, but it is a Marriott booking with Marriott rates and points rather than a Disney one.

Best for: Marriott members who want the EPCOT walk

Watch out: It is not a Disney Resort hotel, so its benefits are defined separately. Confirm the current list with Disney.

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort in EPCOT area
Best value Skyliner resort

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

EPCOT area★★★★

  • Best Value
  • On-Site
  • Pool
  • Water slides
  • Works without a car

The Skyliner hub sits here, which makes a Moderate room as well connected to EPCOT as most Deluxe resorts are.

Best for: Families who want Skyliner access at Moderate prices

Watch out: A very large resort. Ask for a village close to the Skyliner station.

The trade-off

The walking resorts cost roughly three times a Skyliner Value room and save you a queue at the start and end of each EPCOT day. Whether that is worth it depends on how many EPCOT and Hollywood Studios days the trip has, and on whether you will be leaving after fireworks with children.

Common questions

Which hotels can you walk to EPCOT from?

Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Yacht Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, the Walt Disney World Swan, the Walt Disney World Dolphin and the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, all using the International Gateway at the back of the park.

What is the Disney Skyliner and which hotels have it?

A gondola system connecting Disney's Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation Resort with the EPCOT International Gateway and Disney's Hollywood Studios. It does not serve Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom, and it suspends service in lightning.

Is the International Gateway open the same hours as EPCOT?

Entrance hours at the International Gateway have differed from the main entrance at times, particularly for early entry. Check the current arrangements with Disney if you are booking a resort specifically to use that gate in the morning.
