Wide road with hotels and palm trees in the Kissimmee area near Disney

Kissimmee Hotels Near Disney World

Kissimmee is where an Orlando trip gets cheaper and longer. The rooms cost less, the villas are bigger and every day starts with a drive.

30-Second Verdict

Gaylord Palms is the best hotel in the area by a distance, and priced accordingly. For a large family with a kitchen, Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake or Reunion Resort. For the lowest sensible rate, Celebration Suites or Galleria Palms.

What you are actually buying

The US-192 corridor south of Walt Disney World has been the budget accommodation belt for decades. It holds the highest concentration of condo and villa resorts in the region, which is why families of seven and eight end up here rather than in Lake Buena Vista.

The cost is the drive. Every park day begins and ends with one, and you will pay theme park parking unless the hotel runs a shuttle. For a party of two doing four park days that usually wipes out the saving. For a party of eight who need three bedrooms and a kitchen, it does not come close to wiping it out.

  • Theme park shuttle

A covered atrium and a water park make this the strongest bad-weather hotel near Disney, and the location keeps the southern Disney entrance close.

Best for: Families who want a water park and an indoor plan

Watch out: Convention business and variable rates. It is also priced well above everything else in Kissimmee.

  • Best for Families

A newer resort beside the Sunset Walk dining and retail district, with a water park next door. The walkable evening is unusual in Kissimmee.

ChampionsGate★★★★8.8/10228 reviews

  • Best Rest Day

  • Fitness center

Two championship courses and a lazy river on the same property, which is a rare combination. It suits a week where not everyone is going to the parks.

Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort in West Kissimmee

West Kissimmee★★★★8.5/102,019 reviews

  • Best for Large Families
  • Water park

  • Water slides
  • Full kitchens
  • Family suites

A very large villa resort with its own water park and lazy river, which means a rest day needs no travel at all. Units run from studios to multi-bedroom villas.

Best for: Large families who want a kitchen and a water park

Watch out: Enormous site with internal transport. Unit condition varies, and timeshare marketing is part of the model.

Reunion Resort & Golf Club in Reunion
Best for a large group

Reunion Resort & Golf Club

Reunion★★★★★8.5/10455 reviews

  • Best for Large Families
  • Water park
  • Lazy river
  • Water slides
  • Full kitchens
  • Spa

Villas and homes with full kitchens, three golf courses and a water park. For a multi-family trip it competes with renting a house and adds resort facilities.

Best for: Groups of eight or more

Watch out: Spread over a very large area and a genuine drive from the parks. A car is essential.

Melia Orlando Celebration

Celebration★★★★8.4/10837 reviews

Celebration Suites

Celebration★★★9.1/106,026 reviews

  • Best Value
  • Best for Families
  • Family suites

Suites with a kitchenette at a budget rate. For a family that would otherwise book two rooms, this is the cheapest way to stay together near Disney.

Best for: Families of five or six on a strict budget

Watch out: A budget property. Come for the space and the price.

Galleria Palms Orlando in Kissimmee
Cheapest with a theme park shuttle

Galleria Palms Orlando

Kissimmee★★★8.2/103,047 reviews

  • Best Value
  • Budget
  • Pool
  • Theme park shuttle

A small hotel whose shuttle is the reason to book it. In Kissimmee, a shuttle is what stops a cheap room turning into a rental car bill.

Best for: Budget trips without a car

Watch out: Confirm the parks served and the timetable before booking.

The trade-off

Kissimmee trades time for money, and it does so honestly. The mistake is taking the trade without doing the arithmetic: add parking, fuel and a rental car to the cheaper room before you compare it with an on-site rate.

Common questions

How far is Kissimmee from Disney World?

The US-192 corridor runs along the southern edge of the Walt Disney World area, and the practical journey depends heavily on which end of the corridor your hotel is on and which park you are heading for. Treat any single distance figure with caution and check the route to your specific park entrance.

Is Kissimmee cheaper than staying at Disney?

The room almost always is. The trip is cheaper when the party is large enough to need a villa, and often is not for a couple or a family of four once parking, fuel and a rental car are counted.

Do Kissimmee hotels have Disney shuttles?

Many advertise one, and the number of departures varies enormously. In this area the shuttle is the difference between a cheap trip and a trip with a rental car, so confirm the current timetable before booking rather than after.
