Shuttle bus outside a hotel near Universal Orlando

Orlando Hotels with a Universal Shuttle

Universal sits close enough to the I-Drive hotel strip that a shuttle is a convenience rather than a necessity. That changes how much weight it should carry in the decision.

30-Second Verdict

Because the Universal cluster is compact, a rideshare from a nearby off-site hotel is short and cheap, which makes shuttle quality less decisive here than on the Disney side. Book on breakfast, kitchen and rate first, and treat the shuttle as a bonus. Drury Inn & Suites near Universal and Hyatt House are the strongest all-round choices.

Questions worth asking

  • How many departures, and how late is the last return?
  • Does it go to the parks or only to a transfer point?
  • Does it also serve Epic Universe, which is a separate entrance?
  • Is it included or part of a resort fee?
  • Is there capacity for your whole party at peak times?

The Epic Universe question is the one people forget. A shuttle that has served Universal Orlando for years may drop at the original parks only, which is a different place from the new gate.

The trade-off

A shuttle removes a parking charge and adds a schedule. Around Universal the distances are short enough that two rideshares a day often cost less than the flexibility you give up, which is not true on the Disney side of the city.

Common questions

Do Universal hotels have shuttles?

Universal's own on-site hotels have complimentary transport to the parks and CityWalk by walking path, water taxi or shuttle bus depending on the hotel. That is a resort transport system, and quite different from an off-site hotel running a few departures a day.

Is a shuttle to Universal worth choosing a hotel for?

Less than at Disney. The Universal cluster is compact, so a rideshare from a nearby hotel is short. Choose on rate, breakfast, kitchen and room size first, and treat the shuttle as a tiebreaker.

Do hotel shuttles go to Epic Universe?

Not necessarily. Epic Universe has its own entrance at the southern end of the campus, and a shuttle that has served Universal Orlando for years may only drop at the original parks. Ask the hotel directly.
