Universal Endless Summer Resort - Surfside Inn and Suites
Surfside opened first and is the smaller of the two Endless Summer hotels. The rooms and the benefits match Dockside; the pool count does not.
30-Second Verdict
Book Surfside if it is cheaper than Dockside for your dates and you do not care about the second pool. Skip it if you want a walking path to a park or any resort facilities beyond the basics.

Location and park fit
Surfside sits alongside Dockside at the northern end of the Universal area, connected to the parks by Universal transport rather than on foot.
It suits a Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure trip better than an Epic Universe one, simply because those parks are a shorter ride.
Rooms and family fit
Two-bedroom suites published for six with a kitchenette, and standard rooms for four. The configuration is identical to Dockside.
Transport and mobility
Universal shuttle only. Allow extra time at park opening, when the queue for the bus is longest.
Park benefits
Early park admission as an on-site guest. No Express benefit at the Value tier.
Universal has long included Universal Express Unlimited for guests at its three Premier hotels, at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. It has not covered Volcano Bay, and how it applies at Epic Universe is set separately. Confirm the current terms with Universal before booking on that basis.
Pool and rest-day fit
One pool. This is a hotel for sleeping between park days rather than a resort, and it is priced accordingly.
Cost beyond the room
No theme park parking. A food court rather than restaurants. Confirm resort charges directly with the hotel.
Everything Dockside offers except the second pool, usually at a slightly lower rate. If the gap is small, take Dockside.

There is a food court rather than a table-service restaurant, which suits the price point and keeps the eating budget down.
