Disney's Polynesian Village Resort beach and lagoon at sunset

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

The Polynesian is the Disney Deluxe that answers the party-of-five question without a suite, on the monorail loop.

30-Second Verdict

Book the Polynesian if you are five people and Magic Kingdom is your main park. It removes the occupancy problem and the transfer problem in one booking. Skip it if you are four people spread across all four parks, where a Moderate resort does the same job for much less.

Best for

  • Families of five who do not want a suite
  • Magic Kingdom-first itineraries
  • Travelers who want a boat and a monorail rather than a bus
  • Guests who value resort atmosphere over room finish

Skip it if

  • Your party is four and your week is evenly spread
  • You need a room for six
  • You want the newest rooms on Disney property
  • You want a lazy river, which no Disney resort has outside Stormalong Bay

Location and park fit

The Polynesian sits on the monorail loop with a boat to Magic Kingdom and a walking path to the Transportation and Ticket Center, from which the EPCOT monorail runs.

For a trip weighted towards Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, this is one of the two or three best-connected resorts Disney operates.

Rooms and family fit

Standard rooms are published for five. For a family of that size this is the headline fact, because most Orlando rooms stop at four and the alternative is a suite.

Villas and bungalows exist alongside the resort rooms at considerably higher rates.

Transport and mobility

Monorail, boat and Disney buses. No car is needed for any part of a Disney trip.

Park benefits

Early Theme Park Entry as a Disney resort guest, and Deluxe resorts have carried Extended Evening Theme Park Hours on selected nights.

Disney sets which hotels qualify for Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, and has changed both. Confirm the current rules on the official Walt Disney World site before booking for a benefit.

Pool and rest-day fit

Two pools, one with a water slide, and a beach on the lagoon. It is a genuinely pleasant place to spend an afternoon, which is not true of every Disney Deluxe.

Cost beyond the room

No theme park parking for resort guests and historically no resort fee. Dining on property is the cost that adds up.

The trade-off

Deluxe pricing for a resort where the rooms are the least remarkable part. You are paying for the monorail, the setting and the five-person occupancy.

Common questions

Do Polynesian rooms sleep 5?

Standard rooms are published for five. Confirm the specific room category when booking.

Is the Polynesian on the monorail?

Yes, with a station on the property, plus a boat to Magic Kingdom and a walking path to the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Is the Polynesian better than the Grand Floridian?

It usually costs less and has a livelier atmosphere. The Grand Floridian has more transport options and a higher service level. For a family of five, the Polynesian is generally the better value.
