Disney's Coronado Springs Resort Gran Destino Tower and lake

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Coronado Springs is the Disney Moderate that was built for adults as much as for families, which makes it unusual on the property.

30-Second Verdict

Book Coronado Springs if you want to be on Disney property at Moderate pricing with grown-up restaurants and a spa. Skip it if you need short transfers, because it is bus-only from the western side of the property, or if you want a resort aimed squarely at children.

Best for

  • Adults and couples who still want to stay on Disney property
  • Business travelers at the resort's convention centre
  • Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios weighted itineraries
  • Guests who want a spa without Deluxe pricing

Skip it if

  • You want a monorail, boat or Skyliner connection
  • You need a room for five or six
  • You want a resort that entertains children all day
  • You dislike very large resorts with long internal walks

Location and park fit

Coronado Springs sits on the western side of the property, closer to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios than to Magic Kingdom. Transport is by Disney bus to all four parks.

Rooms and family fit

Standard rooms sleep four. Gran Destino Tower adds a block of rooms with a different, more adult character and its own restaurants, which no other Disney Moderate has.

A family of five or six needs a different resort entirely.

Transport and mobility

Bus to every park. Internal walking distances are significant, because the resort is built around a lake with several villages.

Park benefits

Early Theme Park Entry as a Disney resort guest. Extended Evening Theme Park Hours have applied to Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts rather than Moderates.

Disney sets which hotels qualify for Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, and has changed both. Confirm the current rules on the official Walt Disney World site before booking for a benefit.

Pool and rest-day fit

The main pool has a water slide, and there is a full-service spa, which is rare at this tier. It works well for a slow afternoon and it is not a water park.

Cost beyond the room

No theme park parking for resort guests. The rooftop restaurant in Gran Destino Tower is one of the better meals available at a Disney Moderate.

The trade-off

You get adult-facing restaurants, a spa and Moderate pricing, and you give up every fast transport option Disney runs.

Common questions

Is Coronado Springs good for families?

It works, and it is not aimed at children the way the Value resorts are. Families wanting theming and activity usually prefer Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans at the same tier.

Does Coronado Springs have a Skyliner?

No. Transport is by Disney bus to all four parks.

What is Gran Destino Tower?

A tower added to Coronado Springs with its own lobby, restaurants and a more contemporary room style, aimed at adults and convention guests.
